Informal IntroNotice: in this section, there are redundant informations which you might have read in the previous section. Thank you for visiting my homepage. My name is Truong Xuan Nghiem. In Vietnamese, my name is written as Nghiêm Xuân Trường. If you are curious why my Vietnamese name has different order than my name in English, you can read this article on Wikipedia or this article by Huynh Dinh Te. I was born and grew up in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. In 1998, I entered Hanoi University of Technology (HUT) for my college study. At first, I had wanted to major in Computer Science or Telecommunication, but I suddenly changed my decision at the last minute and chose Automatic Control as my major. I graduated from HUT in 2003 and joined the Department of Automatic Control (where I had been studying for three years of my undergraduate study) in that year. After nearly two years working as a lecturer at HUT, I was awarded a Vietnam Education Foundation (VEF) fellowship to study at the University of Pennsylvania towards a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering. I arrived in the US, for the first time in my life, on August 27, 2005. If you would like to learn more about my country, Vietnam, or my beloved Hanoi city, the following resources might be useful:
