Arrival by Train

For arrival by train (except PATCO), use Amtrak 30th Street Station. The station is located at the intersection of 30th Street and Market Street and is just a few blocks from the Lab at 3330 Walnut Street, lying between 33rd and 34th Streets. (Market Street parallels Walnut Street. 30th Street parallels 33rd and 34th Streets.) It is the main and usually only stop in Philadelphia for Amtrak trains along the Northeast rail corridor between Boston and Washington. It is a convenient stop from SEPTA regional light rail lines, serving the Airport and Pennsylvania suburbs. You can reach the Lab easily from the station by foot, taxi, or car.

By foot

Leave the station through the 30th Street exit (signed). Market Street is to your left. Walk to the corner of 30th Street and Market Street. Cross 30th Street and walk along Market Street three blocks to 33rd Street. Cross 33rd Street. Turn left and walk about two blocks to Walnut Street, at the second set of traffic lights after your cross Market Street. Cross Walnut Street, turn right, an walk west about half the block. The entrance to Levine Hall is recessed to your left. About 15 minutes.

By taxi

Leave the station through the 29th Street exit (signed). The taxi stand is ahead of you. Give your destination as 3330 Walnut Street, about halfway between 33rd and 34th Streets, and on the south (left) side of Walnut. About a $5 fare and a 5 minute ride.

By car, to the Lab

Drive around the station, to your left, onto southbound 30th Street and to the traffic light at Market Street. Cross Market Street and stay on 30th Street, which shifts a bit to your right. Drive two blocks on 30th Street until it ends in a T-instersection with Walnut Street. Turn right onto Walnut and continue three blocks to 33rd Street. Levine Hall is about a half block farther, on your left. For parking in garage #30, continue on Walnut to about a half block past 37th Street. The garage is on your right. About 5-10 minutes, excluding parking.

By car, to parking #37 or #34

Drive around the station onto 30th Street and to the traffic light at Market Street. Turn right at the light onto Market Street. Drive four blocks on Market Street, getting into the left-turn lane for 34th Street. On the left-turn signal, go left onto 34th Street for one (short) block accross Ludlow Street. Garage #37 is on your left, lot #34 is to your right. After parking, continue one block by foot on 34th Street from Chestnut Street to Walnut Street. Cross Walnut Street, turn left, and walk about a half block farther. Levine Hall is on your right. About 5-10 minutes, excluding parking.

30th Street Station offers a variety of small coffee, food, and convenience shops. Car rental is available, though unnecessary and from here for a visiting the Lab.
