ABSTRACT
In this talk, we will focus on two significant challenges for heterogeneous teams of robots in the field: communication and perception. First, we will explore opportunistic communications as a paradigm to facilitate large-scale deployment of aerial and ground robot teams. Second, we will discuss applications of neuromorphic sensors such as event cameras for field robotics, showing how these sensors excel in challenging lighting conditions encountered in field applications. Finally, we will address gaps for deploying heterogeneous teams of robots in the field at scale.
