Jessica (McWilliams)Weakly

PhD, MEAM

Jessica is pursuing her Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering under the mentorship of Dr. Cynthia Sung. She is interested in computational, task-oriented design of mobile robots capable of traversing complex terrain. She wants to explore the ways in which a robot’s structure impacts its locomotion capabilities. In particular, her current research investigates how compliant mechanisms can give underactuated robots additional functionality. Jessica graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park in May 2018, where she conducted research under Dr. Sarah Bergbreiter to develop a mobile robotic solution for bridge inspection.
