During the FIRST® Robotics Competition (FRC), students participate in school and community based teams. FRC combines the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology, including areas like mechanical design, programming, engineering documentation, business, and presentation skills in a high stress environment under strict rules, limited resources, and time limits. Individual teams are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program robots to perform prescribed tasks against a field of competitors. It’s as close to "real-world engineering" as a student can get. GRASP provides logistical support to FRC teams to create an environment in which students organize themselves into a problem-solving team able to design, build, compete, learn, and have fun!
