The GRASP Lab is seeking two Penn Engineering or Computer Science students to teach the UNITE-SMP Robotics summer camp.

The Provost Summer Mentorship Program is an innovative four-week experience, aiming to inspire first-generation and minority students in Philadelphia to view higher education as an achievable and worthwhile goal. ​​Students selected for the program are provided the opportunity to partner with, and learn from, the five professional schools here at the University. These include the Penn School of Dental Medicine, Penn Nursing, Penn Engineering, Perelman School of Medicine, and Penn Law.

The UNITE-SMP Robotics program is run by the GRASP Lab and has students learn the fundamentals of engineering, programming, and robotics.

The summer schedule runs July 5 - Aug 4 from 9​ ​am - 4​ ​pm. There will also be 2-4 meetings before classes start to prepare teachers for the course.

Teacher responsibilities include: planning lessons, leading class instruction, chaperoning field trips, and participating in community service activities.

Preferred experience: computer science coursework, engineering coursework, teaching assistant, robotics.


Salary:

  • ($16/hr - Master's students, $12/hr - Undergraduates) including summer campus housing and lunch​
