Investigating Neuromodulation Effects evoked by a Social Robot Actor during Action Observation Therapy for Stroke Rehabilitation

This project investigates the neuromodulatory effects evoked when stroke patients engage in Action Observation Therapy (AOT) delivered through a social robot actor. By combining EEG biomarkers with rehabilitation paradigms, the study aims to characterize how robot-mediated action observation influences cortical activation and connectivity compared to traditional human-actor AOT. The findings are expected to advance understanding of neuroplasticity in stroke recovery and inform the design of adaptive, robot-assisted therapies for personalized rehabilitation.
