Abstract: Five years have passed since the Korean Government (MOCIE, MIC, MOST) announced to foster 10 growth engines towards US$20,000 Income per person(GDP). Intelligent robot has been selected as one of 10 growth engines. Korea Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) has proposed IT-based ISR (intelligent service robot) as a new paradigm for future robot industry, since Korea has the world’s best IT infra systems such as a broadband convergence network, home network, and mobile communications. The mission of the MIC robot Program (URC program) is to seek compelling applications and new business models in the service robot market by fusing IT into RT. The first 5-year URC program of MIC is to be finished by the end of 2007. In this talk, there will be introduced several issues on URC.
