Description of the program:
- Internship for high school students
- A unique opportunity to be mentored and trained by senior researchers while conducting real-world research for the benefit of the country.
- Supported with college and career-readiness curriculums, and given access to further educational opportunities
- Administered by staff at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).
Expectations of Interns
- Must be a rising senior
- Fulfilling all deadlines
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident.
- Open to high school students or those who are rising seniors in High School (11th grade going into 12th grade)
- Applicants must meet at least two of the criteria listed below:
- Identify as Alaskan Native or Native American, Black or African American, Hispanic, and /or native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander Identify as female and pursuing research in physical science, computer science, mathematics, or engineering have or previously had a disability, physical or mental impairment, medical condition, or learning disability (ADA).
- The primary language at home is not English (ELL), your parents or legal guardians do not have a college degree or graduated college.
- (1stGEN) At least one parent or legal guardian is an active member or veteran of the U.S. military, National Guard, or Reserves
- Attend a rural, urban, or frontier/tribal school.
