AEOP Army Educational Outreach Program


Description of the program:

  • Internship for high school students
  • A unique opportunity to be mentored and trained by senior researchers while conducting real-world research for the benefit of the country.
  • Supported with college and career-readiness curriculums, and given access to further educational opportunities
  • Administered by staff at the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). 

Expectations of Interns

  • Must be a rising senior
  • Fulfilling all deadlines
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident. 
  • Open to high school students or those who are rising seniors in High School (11th grade going into 12th grade) 
  • Applicants must meet at least two of the criteria listed below:
    •  Identify as Alaskan Native or Native American, Black or African American, Hispanic, and /or native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander Identify as female and pursuing research in physical science, computer science, mathematics, or engineering have or previously had a disability, physical or mental impairment, medical condition, or learning disability (ADA).
    • The primary language at home is not English (ELL), your parents or legal guardians do not have a college degree or graduated college.
    •  (1stGEN) At least one parent or legal guardian is an active member or veteran of the U.S. military, National Guard, or Reserves 
    • Attend a rural, urban, or frontier/tribal school.
