Abstract: In this talk, I first introduce briefly the activities of our laboratory. The studies in our laboratory focus on theory and applications related to computer vision and media processing. Some of the major research projects undertaken in the laboratory
involve the creation of novel vision sensors including the
omni-directional vision system, and the development of algorithms for
human sensing, 3D modeling and computational photography. Our research projects are motivated by applications in the fields of
surveillance, intelligent robots, medical diagnosis assistance and
digital entertainment. Gait identification has recently gained attention as methods of identification of individuals at a distance from a camera. We have constructed a large-scale gait database, and proposed several methods of gait identification. Second, I introduce recent researches on gait analysis and its digital entertainment application.
