RoboCup teams worldwide strive to bend it like C3PO

The World Cup gets under way Friday, but the injured player was practicing for another international tournament this month: RoboCup. Soccer played by robots. No water breaks required.

The annual event, in Singapore this year, is billed as “the world’s largest robotics and artificial-intelligence event,” with more than 400 teams from dozens of countries. Penn is fielding teams in two of the five divisions.
