
AEOP Army Educational Outreach Program
The Penn Engineering Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) High School Internship is a seven-week summer research experience for rising high school seniors from Philadelphia schools interested in STEM fields. This year’s program will run from June 20th to August 5th, 2025.
Students in the program will be paired with a mentor in a field of their interest. The structure of the research internship may vary, but high school students are required to work full-time for 7 weeks. At the end of the summer, interns participate in a poster presentation.
Students and Mentors will both receive a stipend.
Description of the program:
- The Army Educational Outreach Program (AEOP) High School Internship is a 7-week summer experience for rising seniors in high school.
- Interns are mentored by doctoral candidates and faculty PIs while working on research projects that are tailored to their interests and have real-world applications.
- Interns are immersed in a collaborative research environment at the university level.
- Includes college- and career-readiness workshops for interns.
- The program is administered by the Cora Ingrum Center for Community Engagement and Outreach

Intern Eligibility
- – Open to rising juniors and seniors (currently in 10th and 11th grade)
- – Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent legal resident.
