GRASP Industry Talk – Daewon Lee, Samsung AI Center in New York, “Look, listen and feel: towards the next step for robot autonomy”

ABSTRACT

The Samsung AI Center in New York is composed of world experts in machine learning, robotics, and brain science and collaborates with leading academic groups to create both innovative theories and state-of-the-art technological demonstrations that engender pioneering products and applications for Samsung Electronics over both short and long time scales.

This talk will present ground breaking technologies to solve challenging problems at the intersection of AI and robotics, including robot grasping, path planning, tactile sensing, and multimodal perception.

Daewon Lee received the B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Seoul National University (SNU), Seoul, Korea, in 2005 and 2012, respectively. He was a postdoc researcher at the GRASP Lab, University of Pennsylvania from 2015 to 2018. And he joined Samsung AI Center New York in 2018, and is currently a project lead of the team. His research interests include Robotics and AI.
